If you are one of the lucky ones to have an oily skin type then you must rejoice. Unfortunately unsubstantiated for now, it has been noted that those with this skin type tend to be immune to premature surface wrinkling versus than those with dry skin. Have a look around your friends and take an informal poll - who looks younger.
What Is the Cause?
It's in your genetic makeup as is dry skin. A person's genes, hormones during pregnancy and sometimes the pill can cause the oil glands of the skin to produces excess sebum. And excess sebum causes pimples and blackheads by clogging the pores where they become susceptible to bacterial infections and inflammations.
How Do I Know I Have Oily Skin
It's very simple:
Does your face (particularly your nose, forehead and chin) look shiny?
Does your makeup look like it has melted off by the end of the day?
When you wear eye shadow do you get the eye shadow crease after a few hours?
And lastly do you get pimples or acne?
Did you answer yes to any of these? If you did you have oily skin.
Hypothesis
There are a few hypothesis circulating right now:
1. Oil Seals in Moisture
It forms a protective coating on the skin that helps seal in the body's natural water supply
2. Barrier
This coating also provides a barrier to external environmental stresses. Stresses like wind which causes dehydration resulting in fine lines and wrinkles
3. Skin is Thicker
Thicker skin looks plump and therefore younger
So don't be too hasty in trying to remove the oil on your skin!
